About Xipesa Ceramics
Sharing Hungary's ceramic heritage with the English-speaking world
Our Mission
Xipesa Ceramics was created with a simple purpose: to make Hungary's extraordinary ceramic heritage accessible to English-speaking audiences. While Hungarian is a notoriously difficult language for outsiders, the beauty of Hungarian pottery speaks across linguistic boundaries. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the rich information available in Hungarian and the growing international interest in these traditions.
We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, dealer, or commercial entity. Our recommendations are based on research, personal visits, and genuine enthusiasm for the craft. We believe that informed appreciation leads to better experiences, whether you are visiting a factory museum, browsing a village market, or evaluating a piece at auction.

Our Approach
Every article on Xipesa Ceramics is researched using a combination of published academic sources, manufacturer records, museum collections, and on-the-ground visits. We consult recognized reference works such as the Yale University Press publication "Hungarian Ceramics from the Zsolnay Manufactory" and the extensive research archive of the Bard Graduate Center.
We aim for accuracy over speed. Articles are reviewed quarterly and updated whenever new information becomes available. Each article includes its publication and last update dates, and we link to authoritative external sources so readers can verify and expand on what we present.
Our photography comes primarily from Wikimedia Commons, ensuring that all images are freely licensed and properly attributed. Where we reference specific collections or institutions, we provide links to their official websites.
